Lisa Eakins

Lisa Eakins - Cello

Lisa Eakins, cello, has been living in Fort Collins, with her husband Tom and daughters Jenny and Heather, since 1988. She completed her Master of Music degree at CSU, studying cello with Barbara Thiem, and continued with post-graduate work at the University of Colorado with Judith Glyde. During those years, she built a thriving cello studio of private students and founded the Larimer Youth Festival Orchestra, now known as the Youth Orchestra of the Rockies. She has performed with several orchestras along the Front Range, including the Colorado Symphony, the Boulder Philharmonic, the Greeley Philharmonic, the Cheyenne Symphony, and the Fort Collins Symphony. She especially enjoys performing with Quartet Con Brio, as well as other chamber groups such as Chambermade, Ethos West, and Laudamus Chamber Chorale.

A graduate of Fort Collins High School, Ms. Eakins studied cello with André Navarra in Vienna, Austria, and with Janos Starker at Indiana University, where she met her husband, Tom. The two spent the first three years of their married life in Guadalajara, Mexico, where they played with the Orquésta Sinfonica del Estado de Jalisco, and enjoyed vacationing in near-by Puerto Vallarta.
